Concrete Maintenance
Every piece of concrete is sealed before they are delivered. we use two reactive based penetrating sealers that will give you the protection you need without obstructing the feel or look that you typically get from topical sealers. Since this sealer is reactive it takes about 30 days for it to be at full strength therefore, after installation is completed we recommend that our customers be gentle with the use of our product for 4 to 6 weeks. What we mean by being gentle is that your keep spills wiped up and do not scrub them aggressively. Just use a soft cloth with mild soapy water. After 4 to 6 week period you will be left with a very functional piece of concrete.
Under normal wear and tear, your piece of concrete should never crack. Concrete has gotten a bad rep for cracking due to inexperienced fabricators who do not properly mix or cure the product. The concrete we product is known as "FRC" which stands for fiber reinforced concrete. This is coupled with three other chemicals that produce a very high strength piece of concrete and under normal conditions should never fail.
Here is what we recommend for normal use and maintenance. When cleaning you tops after the 4 to 6 week period use nonabrasive pads with a mild non-ammoniated, non-abrasive soap. We use simple green which can be found a home depot and it works great. We also recommend using cutting boards, hot plates and or trivets. This will keep the sealer and finish from being damaged. Always have a step stool handy for reaching high objects around you r kitchen so you don't have to resort to standing on you concrete countertops. Houses and cabinets may shift and cause week spots that could cause your counters to fail under excessive weight.
